FMBcapital Holdings Plc (FMBCH), the financial services group operating as First Capital Bank across Botswana,…
Learn MoreAt the end of July, First Capital Bank supported a broiler chicken production project in the city of Beira, in partnership with Associação Ngatibessane, by providing essential resources aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, generating income, and driving community development.
The Bank’s support was channelled to the entity responsible for the implementation of the project – NAFES (Núcleo das Associações Femininas de Sofala) – which operates across Sofala Province, covering the districts of Beira, Dondo, Nhamatanda and Búzi. To make this initiative possible, the Bank contributed 300 chicks, a freezer, feed, and vaccines, ensuring the resources required for the project’s start-up and enabling the application of best practices in breeding, nutrition and animal health.
The project foresees eight annual production cycles and, in addition to promoting food security and local development, creates opportunities for sustainable income generation for women, strengthening the regional value chain and stimulating Sofala Province’s economy. For First Capital Bank, this support reflects its commitment to driving projects that combine social impact, sustainability, and innovation, while at the same time reinforcing the role of women as agents of economic development and valuing the communities in which the Bank operates.
The handover ceremony was attended on behalf of the Bank by Dharmit Jethwa, Marth Tim, Sheila Mangate and Maisha Ismael from the Beira branch. Also present were five members of NAFES, who witnessed the beginning of yet another partnership focused on empowering local communities.
