FIRST CAPITAL BANK SUPPORTS THE EQUIPPING OF EPC MBALANE LIBRARY WITH FURNITURE AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS

As part of its commitment to education and community development, First Capital Bank, in partnership with the Pronwana Association, delivered furniture and educational materials to EPC Mbalane Primary School in the Marracuene district on 13 August.

The collaboration between First Capital Bank and the Pronwana Association has supported various educational initiatives in Mozambique, with approximately nine schools having benefited from this partnership in the past, including EPC Mbalane, which now receives this latest contribution.

The event was attended by representatives of First Capital Bank: Ana Russo, Director of Marketing and Communications, Firmino Baloi, Director of Compliance, and several bank staff; the School Director, Alda Meta; the representative of the Pronwana Association, Alfredo Balate; and, representing the local authorities, Mr. Justino Cuna, Director of the District Service for Education, Youth, and Technology of Marracuene.

The programme began with a welcoming address by the School Director, followed by a cultural performance by the students, who sang reception songs. This was followed by expressions of gratitude to First Capital Bank and the Pronwana Association for selecting the Marracuene district for this initiative, encouraging both students and teachers to take good care of the materials received.

In her remarks, Ana Russo emphasized that this donation is not only the result of an institutional effort but also of a personal contribution from bank employees, who offered books previously valuable to them. “These books will now provide knowledge and inspiration to other children,” she said, highlighting the importance of financial education and learning to save from an early age for future benefit.

Alfredo Balate, representative of the Pronwana Association, underscored the significance of this nearly two-year partnership and expressed gratitude to the bank for its continuous support of the organisation’s initiatives.

A total of 16 reading tables, 16 chairs, 5 double bookcases, approximately 350 books—including educational and children’s literatureand 20 educational maps were delivered, contributing to strengthening the learning environment and resources at EPC Mbalane.

This support will directly benefit the school’s 3,700 students from grades 1 to 9 and, indirectly, the wider community and district, as noted by the School Director in her speech.

Through this initiative, First Capital Bank reinforces its commitment to education, values the participation of its employees in material donations, and actively contributes to improving learning conditions while inspiring students to reach their full potential.
