FIRST CAPITAL BANK ANNOUNCES GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR ITS NEW HEADQUARTERS

On 8 July, First Capital Bank announced the groundbreaking of its new headquarters – a significant milestone in the Bank’s journey of growth and consolidation in Mozambique.
The day was marked by three distinct events, each reflecting the symbolic and institutional importance of the occasion: a morning ceremony with clients and strategic partners, an early afternoon press conference with members of the media, and an intimate evening gathering with staff to celebrate this new chapter for the Bank.

The morning event brought together members of the Bank’s Board of Directors, representatives from the Bank of Mozambique, and institutional and corporate clients, all of whom bore witness to this important moment.
During the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of First Capital Bank Mozambique, Dr João Rodrigues, addressed those present with words of pride and resolve:

As our motto says, ‘Belief Comes First’, and today we are sending a clear signal of our belief in Mozambique, in our clients, and in our team.

Representing the Bank of Mozambique, Dr Gabriel Domingos, Director of the Banking Services and Payment Systems Department, emphasised the importance of infrastructure investment in the financial sector:

I would like to extend a special greeting for the decision to build a purpose-designed building in Mozambique, which demonstrates this Bank’s confidence and long-term vision for the national banking sector.”
He concluded his remarks by
wishing First Capital Bank every success with this project and hoping that these facilities will also serve as a catalyst for strengthening the national banking sector.”

In his closing remarks, Non-Executive Director Dr Carlos Henriques added:

With this step, we reaffirm to our clients what First Capital Bank is and intends to continue being: a bank that delivers quality service, with dedication and a vision for the future. We are proud of the path we have walked, the results achieved, and the trust we have built with our clients and staff. This new headquarters represents another step in our continuous service improvement and our commitment to always do better.”

The groundbreaking marks the official start of construction of the new building – a modern structure designed to reflect the Bank’s vision of becoming a leading financial services provider in the country.
This step represents an important phase in the Bank’s evolution, demonstrating its ambition to consolidate its position as a trusted financial partner in Mozambique, with a strong commitment to economic development and close engagement with clients, staff, and communities.

The second part of the day was a press conference, held at the Bank’s current headquarters, where the media were invited to learn more about the construction of the new building and other strategic initiatives of First Capital Bank.
The panel featured the Chief Executive Officer, Dr João Rodrigues; the Executive Director for Commercial Business, Dr Ivan Thompson; and Non-Executive Director, Dr Carlos Henriques. The session opened with a note of appreciation to the media representatives for their presence, recognizing the essential role they play in information dissemination.

In his address, Dr João Rodrigues highlighted key structural aspects of the organization, such as gender balance, the Bank’s internship programme, and its social responsibility initiatives.
Next, Dr Ivan Thompson placed the focus on clients, stressing the importance of understanding their businesses, anticipating their needs, and offering tailor-made solutions.
Finally, Dr Carlos Henriques concluded the panel with a reflective message, underlining the Bank’s pillars of long-term relationships, excellence, and trust, and positioning the new headquarters as a symbolic milestone in the Bank’s journey.
